Time:  9:30 AM – 10:45 AM    A 75 minute session  to allow for Savasana and sound bath.

Saltair Community Centre Room 19   3850 South Oyster School Rd.  Please park in the very rear parking lot to access entrance to Room 19.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or just starting your journey, join us for a rejuvenating experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and centered.

Chemainus Art Group

Join the Chemainus Art Group!

If you are interested in inviting more artistic play into your life, want to learn more about drawing and painting, or you’re a lonely artist who would enjoy meeting other like minded people for support and motivation, come join the Chemainus Art Group!
We are a group, varied in ability and interest, but with the common goal to support each other in our artistic community. Our next Meet Up is this Wednesday, November 8th from 9:30 to 12noon at the Saltair Community Centre.

We will hosting artist Silvina Lanusse who will be demonstrating printing and mark making using a gelli plate. Please contact us at artgroupchemainus [at] gmail [dot] com if you would like to attend, to see what we do and consider becoming a member of our group.

We meet in person every 2nd Wednesday and 4th Wednesday of each month. Our Meet Ups include demonstrations from guest artists, presentations from members, discussions and feedback about member’s work, and much more.

Saltair Community Centre Open House

SALTAIR CENTRE OPEN HOUSE/ HERITAGE EVENT

SATURDAY MARCH 26 2022 1pm- 3pm

You are invited to tour the Saltair Community Centre!

The volunteer run Saltair Community Society has been remarkably busy making the center a friendly and comfortable place to host events and provide affordable rental spaces. Building improvements paid for by the Society include a newly built accessible washroom, interior painting throughout,  gym/hall floor refinishing, cedar exterior sign, new hallway flooring, custom exterior handrails, electrical upgrades, Wi-Fi stations, hot water tanks, coded door locks, chain link fence removal, carport pot lights, outdoor lighting, toilet upgrades, ageing water main replacement, pressure reducing valve, tables/ chairs for all the rooms, office furniture, concrete repairs, natural gas high efficient furnace, parking lot improvements, just too many to list them all. Come check it out!

IT IS A HERITAGE EVENT AS WELL

You may remember the Saltair Centennial Celebration in 2010. Historical storyboards were developed that told the stories of original families in Saltair. The Society has looked after those story boards, and they will be on display at the open house for all to see again. People loved viewing these boards and visiting with the other original Saltairites. Please join in and reminisce with old friends.

SALTAIR COMMUNITY SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP

Sign up for a yearly Saltair Community Society membership. Your membership allows the Society to host three public events per year and supports the volunteers that operate the Centre.

Annual membership fee is $10/single, or $15/family and includes an “I love Saltair” button and entry in a prize draw for joining up.

Coffee, tea, and pastries will be available. See you there : )

Saltair Community Society Contributes to Local Food Banks

Annual Contribution to Local Food Banks

This Christmas holiday season, the Saltair Community Society in keeping with its annual tradition of giving back to the communities we live and shop in, was able to contribute a cheque for $500.00 to Ladysmith Resource Centre Food bank and a cheque for $500.00 to Chemainus Harvest House Food bank.

Saltair’s Canada 150th Quilt on Exhibit

If you missed the chance to see Saltair’s Canada 150th Celebration Quilt, you will get another chance!

The quilt will be part of the new exhibit at the Ladysmith Museum featuring the works by Saltair Quilter’s Group.

The massive quilt features landmarks such as: Stocking Creek Falls, Big Rock at Boulder point beach, Davis Lagoon Bridge, The old Plantation, Saltair Pub and other wonderful pieces.

Opens on February 17th, 2020 BC Family Day.❤️ Ladysmith Museum on First Ave, downtown Ladysmith.
